Read a footballer’s club journey

Use the club order, dates and loans to recognise a player.

A career timeline tells a story: a first club, a move, perhaps a loan, then a return. Read the whole journey before guessing. One unusual stop can be more helpful than the biggest club. The clubs below are invented.

Start with a familiar stop

Find one club and period you remember clearly. Then look at the clubs just before and after it. Think “who moved from here to there?” rather than naming everyone who played for the famous club. A long stay or a short early loan can help you recognise the journey.

Check the years

A familiar club is only useful if the dates fit. If you remember a player joining late in their career, but the timeline shows an early visit, try someone else.

Two moves in the same year may still have a clear order. Follow the displayed sequence. The years alone do not tell you the exact months.

A loan can overlap another club

Imagine Harbor FC from 2012–2016, with a Vale United loan in 2014–2015. The player can still belong to Harbor while playing on loan at Vale. The overlapping years are not automatically a mistake.

A move back to Harbor in 2020, after leaving for Metro City, is a new stay. Check whether a repeated club means a loan return or a later signing.

Example / Reading a career timeline
  1. Harbor FC2012–2016At Harbor
  2. Vale United2014–2015Loan
  3. Metro City2016–2020Moves to Metro
  4. Harbor FC2020–2022Returns to Harbor
Invented example: the Vale loan is during the first Harbor stay. The later Harbor visit is a new stay.

Put the journey in order

In Career Sorter, place the club pairs you know first. For example, if you remember Vale before Metro, keep that pair together while working out the rest.

In Career Path, use each unlocked hint alongside the timeline. A matching nationality cannot rescue a club journey that does not fit. After the reveal, remember one missing link, such as the early loan, for next time.
